I decided to join Quilchena Golf & Country Club after exploring all of the other courses.

The reasons for this are many.  First of all, I think the layout is very challenging and

requiring all types of shots.  I also enjoy the terrain and flatness of the course as I have a

bad back and enjoy walking and the terrain of a number of other courses in Vancouver

would not allow me to do this.  When I first looked at joining, I thought that there would

be a constant wind at Quilchena.  I have been pleasantly surprised at how little wind we

actually get.  That being said, we do have some wind that also makes the course more

challenging.  The course was in fantastic condition this year and was an absolute joy to

play.

I also do a lot of client entertaining and have found the clubhouse staff and pro shop staff to be fantastic in being very professional.  The food has been excellent and well priced.  One of my most pleasant surprises this year was with the Member Guest tournament.  It was by far, the best I have ever been involved with.  My guest was very appreciative of the day.

Coming from the public courses I was pleasantly surprised that I can play when I want, as much as I want. This has enabled me to reduce my handicap from 13 to 10 since joining – a satisfying accomplishment.

Joining the club is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I selected Quilchena Golf & Country Club because I liked the course layout, the quality of the clubhouse, and its location in Richmond, approx five minutes from home.  I didn't really know any other members when I joined, so the only uncertainty I had was how well I would fit in with the other members.  I made a point of requesting tee times as an individual for my first two years, and as a result I met about three hundred of our members.  I'm pleased to say that I've found all the members at Quilchena very friendly and enjoyable golf companions, and have experienced first hand that the most rewarding feature of a private golf club is its members.  I've heard that other private clubs aren't as friendly as we are at Quilchena, and I'm not sure how accurate that is, but Quilchena's members are the friendliest golfers I've ever met. If you love the game of golf, you'll fit right in. I've also noticed when people are considering joining a golf club, they give little consideration to the golfing services offered beyond the golf course - including club storage, lockers, recording of handicaps, membership in RCGA, food and beverage service in the clubhouse, etc.  These services really enhance the golfing experience, and make it very convenient to drop by the golf course for a quick nine holes if you have time on a summer afternoon or evening.
